All cars must pass the following inspection to qualify for the race:
1. Width shall not exceed 2-3/4 inches.
2. Length shall not exceed 7 inches.
3. The car must have 3/8” clearance underneath the body so it does not rub on the track.
4. Weight shall not exceed 5 ounces.
5. Axles, wheels, and body shall be from the materials provided in the kit.
6. Wheel bearings, washers, and bushings are prohibited.
7. The wheels may not be cut, drilled, beveled or rounded. You may remove the seams and imperfections from the wheels. The axles may be polished and lubricated. Axle burrs may be removed
8. No lubricating oil may be used. Axles may be lubricated with powdered graphite or silicone.
9. The car shall not ride on any kind of spring.
10. The car must be free-wheeling, with no starting devices.
•The official race scale that is used at car check-in shall be considered final.
•Once a car passes inspection and is entered into the race, only race committee members can touch it. If the car loses a wheel, or is otherwise damaged, the racer shall have 5 minutes to make a repair
•Each car must pass inspection by the official inspection committee before it will be allowed to compete. The Inspection Committee has the responsibility to disqualify those cars that do not meet these specifications.
TIPS: Don’t treat your car like a toy until after the race—the more you play with it, the slower it will go. Remember to polish your axles and remove burrs. Do not paint behind the wheel where it contacts the car body. Get the car’s weight as close to five ounces as possible. Put your weights near the back.
